Erstes Karlsruher Pass Treffen in 2023!

https://www.sqlpass.de/groups/rg-karlsruhe/

Program

In diesem Vortrag zeigt euch Sascha Götz Hands-On viele fortgeschrittene Features der T-SQL Sprache.
In dieser demo-lastigen Session erwarten euch u.a.:

  • Transactions
  • Common Table Expressions
  • JSON-Functions
  • MERGE-Statement
  • NULL Joins
  • UNION
  • WINDOW-Functions
  • Index-Optimierung

Session 2: Optimize Workloads with Partitioning

Introduction to partitioning
The technical partitioning in SQL Server is often avoided because a first look at this ingenious feature conveys a high degree of complexity. This session impressively demonstrates that partitioning can actually be very simple.
Table partitioning has so many advantages that you, both as a DBA and as a developer, should familiarize yourself with the basics to assess whether partitioning can solve daily problems. In this session, the basics of partitioning are shown and the – apparent – complexity reduces to absurdity in a few minutes. After this session, sceptics will surely rethink their opinions and reservations.
• What does partitioning mean?
• Areas of application of partitioning
• Elements for providing partitioning
• Partitioning in action

Simplify data management with partitioning
The times of small database systems are over now. Even „small“ systems already provide databases with several 100 GB data volume. It can be a real challenge for the DBA to complete the daily maintenance tasks, data backup, consistency checks, … in a reasonable time frame.
With the help of partitioning (also a feature of the Standard Edition since SQL 2016), considerable advantages in ETL processes, maintenance and backup / recovery can be achieved.
The main area of application for partitioning is the optimization of the load paths for complex DWH solutions and the maintenance of large databases (statistics, indexes, backups, restores). The very strongly demo-based session shows partitioning scenarios that let the DBA do alternative things again and encourage ETL developers to dance the joys.

Den Vortrag von Alexander Klein zu Power Visual Agents holen wir im März-Treffen nach!

Speaker: Uwe Ricken
